Zodiac Aerospace Air Separation Module for Fuel Tank Inerting System now flying on Boeing 737NG
Paris, September 2017 – Since May 2017, the Zodiac Aerospace Air Separation Module (ASM) for Boeing 737NG fuel tank inerting system is operated by an undisclosed launch customer. A second customer received the Zodiac Aerospace ASM and has started operating it this summer, making the Zodiac Aerospace ASM operation in two different countries.
Boeing 737NG major operators have indeed expressed their interest in installing the Zodiac Aerospace ASM which incorporates the latest inerting technology standards in order to meet the highest aircraft safety requirements.
Thanks to its fifty years of experience with major fuel systems programs and its expertise as prime supplier for Bombardier G8000, Embraer E2 and Irkut MC-21 inerting systems, Zodiac Aerospace has developed an improved reliability module in order to solve the early failures discovered on other platforms with three significant design improvements:
- An improved fiber bundle support system that ensures a more even structural load distribution over the tube sheet and drastically reduces the thermal effect.
- An improved fiber winding process that ensures a more homogeneous fiber distribution, hence reducing consequently the risk of weak zone
- An improved inlet that ensures a more consistent airflow over the inlet tube sheet. Zodiac design allows a homogeneous injection and reduces the contamination risk.
