Zodiac Hydraulics

Zodiac Hydraulics is an European leader in the engineering, manufacturing and support of critical equipments dedicated to the main airframers and world’s leading OEMs & aircraft engines manufacturers.

Zodiac Hydraulics designs, manufactures and supports equipment and sub-systems for hydraulic and fuel servo control systems, for any type of commercial, business or military aircraft, gas turbine engines and turbofan engines, with a leadership in numerous critical applications such as:
  • Aircraft Braking
  • Aircraft Steering
  • Landing Gear Extension / Retraction systems
  • Flight Controls
  • Engine Control and Regulation
  • Wing leading edge anti icing
  • Air Management System
  • Space
  • Marine
Our equipments use fluids such as Skydrol, FHS, Fuel, Kerosene or  Coolanol.  Zodiac hydraulics is also a specialist in equipments dedicated to air systems (Air management system & Anti-icing).

Since 1921, Zodiac Hydraulics has developed a unique know-how in the field of fine-tuned high precision hydraulic equipment dedicated to aerospace. We constantly seek for innovation and competitiveness through a continuous investment in research, simulation, control, testing and industrial means. Our Supply chain department drives the make-or-buy policy based on a strategy to outsource machining and surface treatment to the best cost, quality and overall performance. Final assembly and acceptance tests are performed in-house as well as specific high precision operation. Our process oriented Quality Management Organization is fully integrated in each department of Zodiac Hydraulics.

Origins of Zodiac Hydraulics

1967 marked the real start for the hydraulics activity in Châteaudun, based on the very high precision know-how of OPL. The company name changed to SOPELEM and the very first servo-valves were shipped to serve on the Concorde braking system. In 1986, SOPELEM became L’HYDRAULIQUE DE CHATEAUDUN (LHC).  In 1994, LHC took over LE BOZEC AERONAUTIQUE, another famous brand for aerospace hydraulic components, created in 1921, and the same year, LHC became part of the INTERTECHNIQUE group under the name of IN-LHC. Both companies joined the Aircraft Systems Division of ZODIAC in 1999, and has been contributing since then to its success story and continuous growth. In 2013, IN-LHC becomes Zodiac Hydraulics.

Thanks to the growth of the aeronautical sector which represents the major part of our activity as well as our recent commercial successes on major programs, we have been able to realize important investments such as the complete renovation of our prototype workshop or as the purchase of new machining centers and  the extension and the strengthening of our test facilities (Fuel, Air, Oil, Coolanol…).
